The Professional Certificate of Pain Management (PCPM) is a structured training program designed to equip healthcare professionals with essential skills for managing pain at the primary care level. The curriculum emphasizes evidence-based assessment, practical treatment strategies, and interdisciplinary approaches to both acute and chronic pain—anchored in patient-centered care.
Developed in collaboration with University College MAIWP International (UCMI) since 2023, PCPM is now entering its third cohort in 2025. The program is divided into three progressive levels—Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced—each spanning three months with 40 hours of learning. Participants engage in a blended learning format that includes onsite lectures, online modules, clinical demonstrations, hands-on training, case discussions, and logbook-based assessments.
Each level builds on the last: from clinical foundations and pain assessment, to core management strategies, and finally interventional approaches suited for primary care. The program is led by experienced pain specialists including Dr. Anwar Samhari, Dr. Awisul Islah, and Dr. Arshad Puji.
A signature feature of PCPM is the Pain Free Camp, where participants apply their nearly year-long training by delivering free pain care to underserved communities. This event also serves as the official closing ceremony for the nationwide Pain Free Camp initiative.
Open to medical doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, sonographers, and other allied health professionals, PCPM offers a high-impact learning experience for those looking to strengthen their clinical expertise while making a real-world difference.
